Online Casino Habits Reveal Men Aren’t Alone in Their Casino Gameplay
In a poll conducted by DeltaDNA, 1000 men and women were questioned about their online casino habits. The results found both significant similarities and differences in the answers given by both genders questioned.
In terms of gender, casino use is considered to be centred around the male market. Through our exposure media and sports culture, we’re conditioned to assume men make up a much larger chunk of the gaming pool than women. DeltaDNA, an organization that works with data analytics, recently published a study that reports that women actually make up a greater percentage of those playing on mobile casino gaming apps. According to the analysis of premium Apple device owners, 34% of those who actively play mobile casino games turned out to be women, countered by men comprising 27% of players.
How We Receive Our Online Casino Information
Online casino advertising is targeted, typically, towards the male gaze. This information may strike online casino operatives as surprising. Advertising campaigns for casino gaming apps, for example, are often showcased during football matches in the UK.
This strategy is obviously outdated, and operators now must adapt to this new insight into their markets. Depending on the types of gaming being advertised, along with the best way to reach desired groups through advertising, it will be in casino gaming operatives’ best interests to now cater to both sexes equally.
In a survey of 1,000 individuals, 73% of men preferred wagering on sporting events. Around 30% of men stated that poker was their preferred channel of gambling. There was a similar difference in the percentage margin for the women polled, but the larger group (60% of women) named online bingo as their favourite. Betting on competitive sports contributed to 40% percent of the preferences of the women surveyed.
Why Do We Play Online Casino Games?
From an advertising perspective, marketers are looking at why their audiences are gravitating towards casino games. DeltaDNA’s survey gave subjects a variety of different options to reasoned as to why they choose to engage in casino gameplay. Those who filled out the survey could choose from the following:
• As a social element
• As a way to make money
• For the thrill
• To win
• To have fun
• A way to relieve boredom
The findings were similar, providing statistical proof there’s no gender-driven divide in what motivates gamblers. Results showed that over half of both men (57%) and women (55%) play with the hopes of monetary reward.
On an individual basis, can commonplace to imagine that you would react differently to a win than the opposite sex. What DeltaDNA found was that, universally, over half of the subjects questioned played in order to win. One slight difference between genders came up when 13% of men answered that they would keep playing in hopes of a higher reward, after winning the jackpot. This is a contrast to the 9% of women that answered the same.
Where’s the Best Place to Enjoy some Online Casino Gaming?
DeltaDNA’s poll also covered where players chose to play online. Although the scientific value of the poll’s findings is questionable, it found 23% of women and 27% of men gamble in the bathroom. Family events also accounted for places where players would be willing to gamble, if they were given the chance. If they were allotted the opportunity at family functions, including weddings and funerals, 8.4% of women and 12% of men said that they would choose to gamble.
